I've been on zonegran 400mg since June of 2006 after being weaned off of trileptal a drug that I didn't like at all. I feel so much better on the zonegran than I did on the trileptal. I was like a zombie on the trileptal. This is like night and day. I'm grateful that my new neurologist recommended it. Yes, things are going well (no seizures, at any rate), and the headaches are seeming to be kept to a minimum as well. I do have them from time to time, bu at this point, it seems to be more related to allergies than anything else - so I'm fairly sure that the Zonegran was a good move. 400mg daily, but I had more side effects that I needed. Became really emotional, memory problems. Suppose they were nothing that I couldn't live without, but my doc didn't feel that I needed the side effects. I then tried Lamictal which didn't work (rash and allergic reaction, whole bit) so I'm now back on Depakene, doing well and happy. My epileoptologist has said (actually, saw him yesterday) that some ppl tolerate zonegran REALY well, but if they don't...There's no way of knowing an individual's reaction.
